URGENT ACTION ALERT UPDATE- Submit your comments by Nov 27
Dear Dog Lover,
URGENT: Public comments needed before Monday, Nov 27: The GGNRA is moving forward with their plans to further restrict dog walking and add heavy-handed rules at places like Fort Funston, Ocean Beach, Crissy Field, Muir Beach, and Rancho Corral de Tierra. There’s still time to submit your email in opposition because they just extended the previous deadline (for a second time) from Oct 28 to November 27.
We’re asking that you email a comment objecting to the 2019 Compendium to the GGNRA before the November 27 deadline. Your comment may be brief and we have provided sample comments for you to consider: Sample Letter
SFDOG has threatened legal action against the National Park Service for the unlawful use of the compendium to impose elements of the failed dog management plan that was terminated almost two years ago due to inappropriate behavior by GGNRA staff in developing the plan. The compendium is recycling these extreme rules and changing definitions of off-leash dog walking. This will create conflicts between NPS staff and people who are walking their dogs. Please submit your comment objecting to the compendium before November 27. Send email to:
GGNRA: goga_public_affairs@nps.gov
Superintendent Laura Joss (Laura_Joss@nps.gov)
NPS Pacific West Region Director Stan Austin (stan_austin@nps.gov)
Feel free to copy your local, state, and federal representatives.
